Oxidative Stress in Controlled Hypotension: Assessment with A Novel Oxidative Stress Marker

چکیده
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects oxidative stress on thiol-disulfide homeostasis caused by hypotensive anesthesia in mastoidectomy-tympanoplasty cases undergoing controlled hypotension. Methods: Fifty adult patients scheduled for mastoidectomy and tympanoplasty were included study. Anesthesia induced with lidocaine, propofol, rocuronium, remifentanil. maintenance continued remifentanil infusion (target mean arterial pressure as 60-65 mmHg) along 2% sevoflurane/40% O2/air mixture. Blood samples taken 5 times at t0 (before induction), t1 (intraoperatively after intubation), t2 (first hour) t3 (second hour operation) t4 (following recovery). Total thiol (TT) Native Thiol (NT) levels measured, thus, Di-Sulphide (SS), Di-Sulphide/Native (SSNT), Di-Sulphide/Total (SSTT), Thiol/Total (NTTT) values estimated. Results: During operation, progressive decrease observed patients. There a significant when compared value. have returned baseline recovery from (p>0.05). SS, SSNT SSTT found increased blood samples, but increase significant. Throughout dropped reverted back initial values. Conclusion: Since measurement is able show instantaneous state stress, it can be used practice which every event occurs very quickly.

Oxidative Stress Marker and Pregnancy Induced Hypertension
BACKGROUND Pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH) is a state of extremely increased oxidative stress. Hence, research and test of role and significance of oxidative stress in hypertensive disturbance in pregnancy is very important. AIM Aims of this research were to determine a level of thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS) as oxidative stress marker in blood of pregnant woman with preg...
متن کاملOxidative stress index as a novel biochemical marker in tuberculosis; with therapeutic benefit of antioxidant supplementation
Background Severe oxidative stress has been reported in tuberculosis [TB] patients. There are no previous reports regarding oxidative stress index and supplementation of antioxidants in TB. The objective of this study was to assess the antioxidant status, lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress index in TB patients. Also to assess the antioxidant supplementation with antituberculosis therapy in...
متن کاملOxidative Stress and Human Disease: a Review
Background: The human body needs both types of oxidants (free radicals) and antioxidants for normal metabolism, signal transduction mechanism, and the order of cellular activity. Free radicals can be either harmful or helpful to the body, in fact, they play a dual role as both toxic and beneficial compounds. The human body has the natural antioxidant defense mechanism to counteract the free rad...
متن کاملAssessment of oxidative stress parameters of brain-derived neurotrophic factor heterozygous mice in acute stress model
Objective(s): Exposing to stress may be associated with increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Therefore, high level of oxidative stress may eventually give rise to accumulation of oxidative damage and development of numerous neurodegenerative diseases. It has been presented that brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) supports neurons against various neurodegenerative conditio...
متن کاملOxidative shielding or oxidative stress?
In this review I report evidence that the mainstream field of oxidative damage biology has been running fast in the wrong direction for more than 50 years. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and chronic oxidative changes in membrane lipids and proteins found in many chronic diseases are not the result of accidental damage. Instead, these changes are the result of a highly evolved, stereotyped, and p...
